Description/Objectives
The CompEx Ex14 Responsible Persons qualification has been developed for persons in senior supervisory roles, such as those responsible for managing staff, processes, and procedures relating to potentially explosive atmospheres, electrical and non-electrical (mechanical) equipment, protective systems, and installations.
The course has been designed specifically for people who have the responsibility for; Scheduling inspections, and determining inspection frequencies, grades, and types of inspection. Checking inspection team competence, reviewing inspection results, and taking appropriate actions based on the inspection results. The course aims to ensure that ‘Responsible persons’ as defined in IEC60079-14 and/or IEC60079-17 have the knowledge, skills, and competencies to enable them to meet the requirements of these IEC standards, relevant directives, and national laws.
Upon completion of the CompEx Ex14 course, the student will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Understand Explosion protection principles and techniques.
- Understand relevant standards.
- Determining inspection frequencies.
- Schedule inspections
- Determining inspection grades & types
- Prioritize remedial actions
Formation
The 4-day course includes: Theory only, with no practical elements, 3 days of guided learning, and 1/2 day of assessment (Assessment is undertaken using a multiple-choice and an applied knowledge exam that covers the full Ex14 unit. For part of the assessment, candidates are expected to demonstrate their understanding by using documentation and information available to determine the correct answer
