COMPEX FOUNDATION (EXF+)

Description/Objectives

This unit of competency covers the basic principles of protection in explosive atmospheres of plants and machinery. Competence in this unit shall be assessed in combination with, or after gaining other competence required by a given industry or enterprise for plant or machinery operation or installations, maintenance, or service functions

Upon completion of the CompEx ‘F’ course the student will be able to:

  1. Upon completion of the CompEx ‘F’ course the student will be able to:
  2. Identify the correct national regulations, directives, and IEC standards which relate to hazardous areas.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to correctly terminate low voltage cable conductors into an enclosure using the appropriate tools.
  4. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the main protection concepts, categories and protection levels that apply to equipment certified for use in hazardous areas.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to correctly install certified Ex glands to armored and non-armored low voltage cables using appropriate tools.

Outcome
Successful candidates will receive an internationally recognized CompEx Certificate for Foundation Plus in Hazardous Awareness.
Delivery
OPTION-1: In-person plus On-line exam Classroom: 1.5 days training / 0.5 day assessment OPTION 2: Blended Learning: Online at own pace / 0.5 day assessment This online theory exam is undertaken at a training center or can be undertaken remotely via our CompEx center subject to prior arrangement.

Prerequisite
Basic hand Skills and a reasonable standard of English are expected.

Formation

The 2 days course include: Theory plus practical elements (Assessment is undertaken using a practical assessment and an online examination)

This course incorporates a practical component on cable glanding and terminations. Candidate must demonstrate their ability to gland & terminate various cables in given scenarios.

They will be assessed on the competency of cable selections, glanding, crimping and termination.
